Dr Jonathon Brooks graduated from the University of Auckland School of Medicine in 2014. After working as a junior doctor in regional New Zealand, he returned to Auckland where he completed his specialist rheumatology training at Auckland City and Middlemore hospitals before moving to Melbourne in 2024.
This training has given Jonathon broad experience in managing rheumatological conditions including connective tissue diseases, inflammatory arthritis and spondyloarthritis, vasculitis, gout and osteoarthritis. He has an interest in infectious diseases in rheumatology patients and has published and presented internationally in this area.
Jonathon is a dual-trained specialist who also practices as a general physician. He has experience managing acute and chronic medical conditions in clinic and hospital settings and is skilled in managing rheumatic diseases while considering other health issues. Because of this background, he values a holistic approach to patient care, ensuring patients are well-informed and promoting shared decision-making around treatment choices.
Outside of work Jonathon is enjoying exploring Melbourne and Victoria with his wife (and sometimes Luna the dog too), experiencing all that the region has to offer. He’s a fan of live music and attends concerts regularly.
